Foods to Avoid with Diabetes Patients | Worst Foods for Diabetes

Approximately 20 million people have diabetes and over 40 million are about the means of getting type 2diabetes. Type 2 diabetes is the most common type and is diagnosed with adulthood; while type 1 is diagnosed with childhood. In this video you will come to know about the foods you should avoid with diabetes.

1. Whole Milk

Saturated fats in milk products have racked up a laundry list of unwanted side effects including raising “bad” (LDL) cholesterol. Diet high in saturated fat can cause another serious problem: Studies have demonstrated that saturated fats can worsen insulin resistance.

2. White Rice

Research shows that those who have white rice on a daily basis are at 27% higher chance of developing diabetes compared to people who eat whole grain products. White rice contains low-quality carbohydrates and lacks fibers. White rice is easily digested that consequently shoots up the blood glucose level. If you can’t steer clear of rice then replace white rice with brown rice which has many health benefits.

3.Fat Cuts of Meat

Fat cuts or red meat like pork, beef and lamb are extremely harmful to diabetic patients. These meats are loaded with unhealthy saturated fat which increases inflammation and increases the risk of cardiovascular disease. People affected by diabetes already suffer with increased inflammation and red meat worsens the circumstance. Replace fat cuts of red meat with white meat, chicken, turkey, lean cuts of beef and fish and pork to keep diabetes in check.

4. Soft Drinks and Energy Drinks

Sugary soft drinks and energy beverages raise the risk of developing diabetes. Soft drinks are packed with carbs that cause weight gain and individuals that are overweight or obese are at a greater risk of developing diabetes than those with the healthy weight. These drinks contain a great deal of sugar and additives which contributes to rapid spike in the blood sugar and insulin that leads to insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes in the long run.

5. Full-Fat Dairy

You have likely heard that the saturated fats in dairy products can increase your LDL cholesterol levels and increase your risk of heart disease. But saturated fats might cause still another critical problem for people with diabetes – study has discovered that eating a diet high in saturated fat may worsen insulin resistance. Do your best to avoid full-fat dairy products made with whole milk, like cream, full-fat yogurt, ice cream, cream cheese, as well as other full-fat cheeses. Start looking for fat-free dairy products instead.

6. Alcohol

Before going for a predinner cocktail, or maybe a glass of wine with dinner, check with your physician to make certain it’s safe for you to drink alcohol, since it can interfere with your blood-sugar levels. Should you drink, then keep it in moderation. “Moderation” is normally defined as no more than one serving daily if you are a woman, and no longer than two if you are a guy.

7. Fruit Juice

Entire fruits are a healthful, homogenous carbohydrate choice for diabetics, but not fruit juice. Even 100 percent fruit juices — have been chock full of fruit sugar, and therefore cause a sharp spike in blood glucose.
